PRESS RELEASE: For Immediate Release

Sensor Networks, Inc. (SNI) of Boalsburg, PA, is pleased to announce that it has received a $50,000.00 grant from Ben Franklin’s Shale Gas Innovation and Commercialization Center (SGICC). This grant is made available through the Discovered and Developed in Pennsylvania (D2PA) program administered by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development.
The D2PA Shale Gas Seed Grant money is available to small & innovative companies in the Commonwealth that are developing new technologies which support the region’s growing and strategically-important energy sector. SNI will be using the grant funding to accelerate its product development of a next-generation Ultrasonic System for Corrosion/Erosion Monitoring of O&G Assets.

Dr. James N. Barshinger, President and CTO of SNI, said, “As a start-up technology company, this is a very big deal for us. We can use the money to move faster with obtaining both employees and additional suppliers or contractors in the local area.” The company plans to show a working prototype at an upcoming trade show in mid-March and start customer deliveries in the third quarter of 2015.

Brian L. Jack, Chief Corrosion and Materials Engineer for Phillips 66 Refinery Business Unit, has offered one or more test sites for field trials associated with the new Sensor Networks’ technology. Phillips 66 is a growing energy manufacturing and logistics company with high-performing Midstream, Chemicals, Refining, and Marketing and Specialties businesses. According to Mr. Jack, Phillips 66 has a real interest and need to employ these rapidly-evolving capabilities which will enable improved data capture of remaining wall thickness of Refining, Petrochemical and Gas components. Phillips 66 considers Mechanical Integrity a key to their successful operation and believes this will enhance their reliability and performance in this area.
